Our Vision
We’re building a network for women, LGBTQ+ and non-binary people in STEM. Our mission?
We’re here to spotlight the people and share space experiences and milestones shaping our journey to the stars—while creating a powerful, inclusive community for women in STEM, LGBTQ+ explorers, and non-binary space lovers.
Through media, storytelling, and immersive experiences, meetups and events, we’re redefining the space community and fostering connection, collaboration, and confidence!

🚀 Space Media with a Feminine Perspective
We cover all things space with a fresh, inclusive perspective—bringing awareness to the public through news, interviews, and content that centers diverse voices in the space industry.
🌍 Community-Led Exploration
We organize meetups, group trips, and shared experiences at space events, rocket launches, and astronomy hotspots—giving women and LGBTQ+ travelers a safe and supportive space to explore their passion for space and travel.
📡 A Platform for Women in Space
We amplify stories and contributions in STEM and space from women,NB and LGBTQ+ people, ensuring their voices are heard in the broader space conversation.
✍️ Collaborative Content & Storytelling
Our blog and media platform offer community members the chance to contribute articles, event recaps, social media content and space news—helping them gain experience, build their credentials in media and creative spaces, and share their unique cosmic perspectives.
Historically, the space community have been male-dominated spaces, especially in space media and journalism. We’re changing that.

Meet the Crew
The Women Behind the Mission 🚀✨
Co-Founder
Rosie Johnson
Rosie Johnson is a creative director, producer, science communicator, and space artist working at the intersection of space, media, and visual storytelling. As Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Her Cosmic Orbit, she leads the creative vision behind a woman-led space media network dedicated to making space exploration and science more accessible, engaging, and representative.
Her journey into space communication began in 2015, when she started hosting nightly public star parties at Tucson’s Sky Bar, combining astronomy education with community outreach and digital storytelling. In 2020, she brought more than a decade of experience as a professional photographer and digital creative into the space industry, building a career in science communication, creative strategy, and multimedia production. Today, her work spans spaceflight and astronomy coverage, documentary-style storytelling, educational media, photography, video production, and digital campaigns for organizations and leaders across the space and STEM communities.
With a bachelor’s degree in Digital Art and a creative career rooted in fashion photography, Rosie brings a distinctive visual perspective to science communication. She believes space storytelling can be scientifically meaningful without losing personality, creativity, or self-expression—and that making space feel relevant and approachable is an important part of inspiring the people who will shape its future.
Co-Founder
Laura Holt
Laura Holt is a space advocate and enthusiast who lives for the thrill of a rocket launch and the hope for humanity shooting off to the stars. Since 2019, she has been traveling to launches, attending space centers and events, collecting historical memorabilia, and promoting STEM all while making great friends along the way. She met Rosie at a NASA Social in 2023 where the inspiration began growing. What started out as a hobby has turned into an all-consuming desire to contribute to the space industry in meaningful ways. Co-founding Her Cosmic Orbit was a natural next step.
With a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology she understands what it's like to be one of few women in a male dominated field. Her hope for this platform is to share her passion for human spaceflight to inspire a broader and more inclusive community.
Senior Science Director
Dr. Allison McGraw
Dr. Allison McGraw brings a love of space rocks, a curious mind, and a signature pair of sparkly boots to Her Cosmic Orbit. A planetary scientist, science communicator, and the woman behind Mysterious Meteorites, she makes exploring our solar system feel like something everyone can be part of.
Allison earned her Ph.D. in planetary science at the University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory and is a postdoctoral researcher at the Lunar and Planetary Institute. Her research connects meteorites found on Earth to their asteroid origins, helping piece together the history of our solar system. She even has an asteroid named in her honor: (20092) Allisonmcgraw.
At Her Cosmic Orbit, Allison guides our science content, connects our team with the scientific community, and helps develop workshops, events, and educational experiences. You’ll also find her exploring alongside us in Cosmic Sidequest, sharing the science behind the places we visit.
With her ever-changing hair colors and love of sparkles, Allison shares our belief that personal style belongs wherever your curiosity takes you. Case in point: the rhinestone boots she wore on our visit to NASA’s CHAPEA habitat. As a woman in STEM, she shows up as herself and makes room for others to do the same. That shared love of science, fashion, and individuality is a big part of why she fits so well on our team.
